The Harmony Grove senior high girls basketball team got back to work on Tuesday when they traveled to Carlisle for the Carlisle Christmas Tournament. The Lady Cardinals got things under way against Maumelle, but the outcome was not very good as they fell 55-39 Tuesday morning.
â€śIt was a sloppy, early-morning game,â€ť head Lady Cardinalsâ€™ Coach John White said. â€śBoth teams finally settled in later on.â€ť
The Bauxite Lady Miners came back from their week and a half break and lost 60-49 to the Magnet Cove Lady Panthers on Tuesday in the Jessieville Christmas Classic in Jessieville.
â€śWe didnâ€™t play really well,â€ť Bauxite Coach Josh Harrison said. â€śMagnet Cove played with a lot of effort and intensity [Tuesday] and we didnâ€™t match theirs today.â€ť
The Lady Miners (9-4) didnâ€™t have a problem scoring in the first quarter finishing with 19 points, but defensively, Bauxite couldnâ€™t stop Magnet Cove, allowing it to score 18 points in the opening quarter.
Almost $15,000 was raised for the Bryant Boys and Girls Club at the inaugural Starlight Gala, presented by Landers of Benton and organized by the Bryant Rotary Club.

An alcohol tax, plans for Raymar Road South, and the approval of a patrol fleet plan for the Bryant Police Department will be among the numerous topics addressed late Thursday at the Bryant City Council meeting.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at the Boswell Community Complex, 210 S.W. Third St. in Bryant and it is open to the public.
