Robert Henry Moore, 72, of Benton passed away Monday, March 14, 2011.
He was born July 17, 1938, in Little Rock to the late Evelyn Moore and Marvin Moore.
Gary P. Gibson, 57, of Benton passed away Monday, March 14, 2011.Â
He was born Jan. 17, 1954, in Jonesboro to the late James Preston Gibson and Thelma Scarborough Gibson.
Bob Calhoun, 76, of Benton died March 12, 2011. He was a retired food broker and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Benton.
Katherine L. Petty, 64, of Tull, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011. She was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Tull. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Woodrow Scudder, Sr. and Evelyn Doris Scudder and two sisters, Mary Evelyn Meyer and Virginia Dale King.
Jesse Houston Hare, 74, of Benton, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011. He was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. to the late John David and Margaret Rachel Hare.
Although Glen Rose gave up two runs against Bismarck, all were unearned and the Beavers’ pitching roster essentially threw a combined no-hitter in their 12-2 win Tuesday.
Glen Rose head coach Chase Meyers said, “I didn’t seem like we were pitching that well, because we had a couple of errors and they had runners on.
“But our guys stopped the bleeding, and it could’ve been a lot worse.”
Earning the win for Glen Rose was freshman Clay Holicer, who gave up two unearned runs in 2 2/3 innings. He walked three batters and struck out two, while hitting two with pitches.
HASKELL — The Miners jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
Bauxite beat Harmony Grove 6-0 Tuesday, scoring all of its runs in the first three innings thanks to good hitting, smart base running and well-executed defense.
Bauxite head coach Michael Mattox said, “We were much more solid on defense. We acted like we knew what we were doing, and we were in position.”
On the other end, Harmony Grove head coach Brandon Kelly said, “We weren’t mentally tough today. It showed when we got ready in warmups; we were clowning around and weren’t focused at the task at hand.
