BASEBALL: Glen Rose defeats Harmony Grove 10-6

March 18, 2011

GLEN ROSE — A recurring theme for the Harmony Grove Cardinals this season has been their inconsistency. In Friday’s 10-6 loss to Glen Rose, it was no different.

“That is the story of our season so far,” Harmony Grove coach Brandon Kelly said. “One game as a team we will bat .530 and the next game we will bat .190.

“Last night, we put together a complete game and tonight was inconsistency and that goes back to us being young there is no excuse.
“Mentally we melted down tonight.”

The Miners traveled Thursday to Magnet Cove, where they beat the Panthers 9-8.

Sophomore Chris Revas started on the mound for the Miners, pitching 6 1/3 innings and striking out eight batters. In the fifth inning, a line drive hit him in the ear, splitting it open and causing the game to be stopped while coaches tended to him.

However, Revas asked to stay in the game. Mattox, laughing, said, “I think he was more effective after he got hit.”
