Buddy A. Dewberry, 72, of Haskell died Saturday, Sept. 3.
He was born April 3, 1939, in Arkansas County. He was a retired machinist and was a member of the Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Velma Morris Dewberry; and a brother, Jimmy Dewberry.
Bonnie Jean Baird Wilson of Glen Rose, ascended to be present with the Lord on September 4, at the age of 70. She was born April 17, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. She resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma until age 12, and then lived in Shaker Heights (Cleveland), Ohio until she married her husband at age 22. She lived in Malvern (Glen Rose) the remaining years.
The Russellville Cyclones defeated the Bryant Hornetsâ€™ golf team 157 to 160 on Thursday at Hurricane Creek Country Club. The Bryant junior varsity team shot a 173 for third place.
Junior Austin Harmon shot a match-best 3-under-par 33, but the rest of the Hornets didnâ€™t give much help as the Cyclones took victory.
â€śYesterday was a very bad match for us,â€ť Bryant coach Keith Dale said. â€śAustin Harmon shot very well, but the rest of the team didnâ€™t play very well.â€ť
Harmon finished with five birdies, two bogeys and also had two pars.
The Bryant Hornetsâ€™ tennis team defeated the Pine Bluff Zebras on Thursday in Pine Bluff. The Lady Hornets swept its singleâ€™s matches 2-0 and split its doubleâ€™s matches 1-1. The Hornetsâ€™ boys swept its singles matches 2-0, but were swept 0-2 in its doubles matches.
Bryant Hornets coach Steve Wilson said senior Callie Hogancamp and sophomore Whitney Butler both played well for their second victories of the year.
Hogancamp defeated Toreia Harris 8-1 in Girls 1 singles and Butler beat Brittney Sargent 8-0 in Girls 2 singles.
