The Benton Freshman Panthers, behind 13 points from Jackson Oulch and 12 points from Clay Anderson, defeated Cabot North 39-21 Monday night. The win improves Bentonâ€™s season record to 7-1.
â€śItâ€™s always nice to win the home opener,â€ť Panther Head Coach David Torres said. â€śWe got off to a bit of a slow start, but weâ€™re able to speed up the game halfway through the first quarter. Cabot North is a big, long team and we were able to get them into an up-tempo game.â€ť
A registered sex offender living near two day-care centers was arrested on Nov. 20, authorities said.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said 48-year-old William Marsh is a convicted Level 3 sex offender and was charged with failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements.
Russell said that detectives had received information that Marsh wasnâ€™t in compliance of his release terms by living at an unregistered address in Benton.
A special holiday event is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Royal Theatre in Downtown Benton.
The event will feature Oksana Pavilionis of Ovation Music Academy and others from her studio.
In addition to Pavilionis on 7-strings electric violin, performers will include Slavek Bolubah on drums and Brian Hamby on organ and piano.
Guest vocal artists also will be included in the program that will include Christmas selections as well as other holiday music.
Pavilionis said this will be "an exciting concert that will bring a lot of holiday energy and joy to our listeners."
