It took another election, but finally all of the municipal positions in Saline County have been decided.
In Tuesday's runoff election, Benton Alderman Brad Moore won a fifth term on the Benton City Council by defeating David Sparks in the race for the Ward 4, Position 1 seat on the 10-member panel.
Unofficial tallies from County Clerk Linda Montalvo's office gave Moore 201 votes to 117 for Sparks. Those numbers represented 63.21 percent for Moore and 36.79 percent for Sparks.
Raymond (Bud) Ward Westbrook Jr., 62, of Tull passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27.Â He was born Sept. 17, 1950, in Little Rock to the late Raymond Ward Westbrook Sr. and Dorothy Jean Brashears Westbrook.
Mr. Westbrook worked for International Paper for 29 years and was a member of Saline Missionary Baptist Church.Â He started the Tull Fire Department where he served as chief for 17 years.
Dianne Gale Kauffman, 65, of Prattville, Ala., formerly of Benton, passed away on Nov. 28.Â She was born Oct. 12, 1947, in Vicksburg, Miss., to the late Nick and Erma Louise Velchoff.
Dianne was a retired school teacher from the Autauga County School System in Prattville and a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Prattville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Mike Velchoff.
Ronnie G. Whitley, 62, of Mt. Juliet, TN, died Tuesday, November 27. He was the son of the late, Larence H. and Goldie DeLong Whitley. Mr. Whitley was a member of Cornerstone Church and had served in the Tennessee National Guard.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Sherry N. Whitley and Carol Whitley Young.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wanda Kay Gatlin Whitley, son, Gary Whitley and wife, Linda and daughter, Carla Grebert and husband, Michael. Brother-in-law, Philip Gatlin and wife, Becky and several nieces and nephews.
