Benton City Council met a critical deadline Monday night in approving a new power supply agreement that will result in significant savings to the city while ensuring delivery of electrical power to Benton Utilities customers for years to come.
All of the nine aldermen in attendance voted for the measure that has been under negotiation for some time. Alderman Joe Lee Richards was not present, so his vote will be recorded as an automatic "no" to Alderman Doug Stracener's motions for approval.

Bauxite wins it ugly

November 24, 2012

BAUXITE – A hot start on offense in the first half and stingy play on defense in the second half helped push the Bauxite Lady Miners (4-2) past the Pottsville Apaches by a score of 50-38 on Tuesday night.
Despite the win, head coach Joshua Harrison still felt his team didn’t play their best ball.
“It was an ugly game to say the least,” Harrison said. “Pottsville is a good team who is constantly in the 4A state tournament. We looked sluggish tonight. We didn’t execute like we normally would, but I thought defensively we played pretty hard.”
