Thousands of Saline County residents are still without power in wake of the winter storm that hit Tuesday, Christmas Day.
As of press time, estimates on how many customers are out of service or when power will be restored was not available by Benton Utilities.
"The outage is widespread," said Jeremy McAdoo, a representative from Benton Utilities. "We have crews working around the clock. Two separate crews are working 12-hour shifts."
LloydÂ Don Standridge, 60, of Benton, passed away Dec. 26.Â He was born June 13, 1952 in Little Rock to Harold Lloyd and Hazel LaVerne Standridge. Lloyd was an employee of The United States Postal Service for 26 years.Â He was of the Baptist faith, having attended the First Baptist Church of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, LaVerne Standridge Bearden.
Billy Gene Ramsey, 79, of Benton passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26.Â He was born Nov. 6, 1933 in Bauxite.Â
Mr. Ramsey worked at Owasso as a foreman for 25 years; after that he worked for Dalworth of Haskell as a truck driver for 30 years.Â He loved truck driving.
Mr. Ramsey could tell you how to get anywhere you wanted to go and how long it would take you to get there.Â He also loved to make people laugh and did a good job of it.Â Mr. Ramsey was a member of Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.Â
Lexie Elaine Wilmoth, 92, of Bauxite, Â who was known to her family as â€śMama Lane,â€ť passed from this life on Dec. 25, to join her beloved family members who had gone before.
Kelly Ashcraft Cunningham, 49, of Benton passed away Sunday, Dec. 23.Â She was born Jan. 19, 1963, in Little Rock to Norman and Gayle Ashcraft.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gayle Blue Ashcraft.
She is survived by her husband, David Cunningham of Benton; daughters, Karissa McDaniel of Alexander, Kristin McDaniel of Alexander and Shannon Calhoun of Benton; brothers, Tracy Ashcraft of Bryant, Marten Ashcraft of Haskell and John Ashcraft of South Carolina; grandchildren, Wesley H. Stricklin, Parker H. Stricklin, Lexie Calhoun and Joely D. Calhoun.
