Buddy 'BJ' Brazell Jr.

Buddy “BJ” Brazell Jr., who was born Aug. 22, 1956, in Lincoln County to Buddy Brazell Sr. and Eddie B. Brazell, departed this life in Lewisville, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 24.
His family moved to Benton in 1969 and Buddy, along with his siblings, attended Benton public schools. He accepted Christ and became a member of Elect Temple Church of God in Christ under the ministry of the late Pastor Willie Barnes Jr.
He worked a a security officer and an employee of Walmart in Lewisville, Texas, until his health began to fail.

Fletcher Lance Kelloms

Fletcher Lance Kelloms, 74, of Benton passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
He was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to James Kelloms Sr. and Ruby Cordell.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Kelloms Sr.; his mother, Ruby Cordell; his son, Robert Lance Kelloms; his brother, James Kelloms Jr.; and his sister, Ellen Kelloms.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kelloms; his children, Mike Kelloms and Kelly Kelloms; his stepchildren, Lynn Coursey, Dena Mercer and Pam Robideaux; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

DAVIS: Why the chicken crossed the road is solved, maybe.

My wife saw two deer, one on each side of the road. Without knowing it, she solved one of the world’s age-old mysteries.
It was one of those moments when a scene plays out, but later the full depth of the incident weaves its way into our brain and that single moment becomes something much different that it appeared to be on the surface.
