The Bryant Hornets were down by four runs at one point, but battled back for a 5-4 victory in 10 innings over the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats on Tuesday in Bryant to start the 7A Central conference season. Two Wildcat errors in the bottom of the 10th led to the win.
Hornetsâ€™ senior Josh Pultro reached on an error by the third baseman when the fielder threw it away allowing Pultro to take second base.
The Bauxite Miners had a three-run lead going into the last inning and held on to defeat the Magnet Cove Panthers 3-2 in non-conference action on Monday night in Bauxite.
â€śWe went into the top of the seventh 3-0 and [Magnet Cove] scratched and clawed back into it,â€ť Bauxite Coach Michael Mattox said. â€śWe walked a couple guys, they got a couple hits here and there. They had the tying run at third base with one out.â€ť
Warren Lee Crouch, age 66, of Bauxite passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2012.Â
He was born Oct. 4, 1945, in Benton.
Mr. Crouch served in the Navy and was a retired mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Gladys Crouch; and two brothers, Robert and Ray Crouch.
He is survived by two sons, James Crouch (Elizabeth) of Sardis and Michael Crouch of Bauxite; a sister, Marie Clemmons of Benton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Chad Frederick Clift, born Dec. 18, 1976, departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2012.Â He was 35.Â
Although Chad was a Benton native and a 1995 Benton graduate, he had spent time living in California, Illinois, and Louisiana.Â Additionally, Chad traveled the world during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1995 to 1999.
Thomas Wayne Jones, age 64, of Little Rock passed away Monday, March 12, 2012.Â He was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Prescott.Â
Mr. Jones worked at Alcoa for 17 years and was a carpenter for seven years.Â He was U.S. Marine veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of The Church at Rock Creek in Little Rock.
Ina Marie Drennan, age 91, of Benton passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012.Â She was born Nov. 16, 1920 in West Bolton, Kan.Â
Mrs. Drennan was a retired school cafeteria manager.Â She was a member of Northside Church of Christ and Sharon Extension Homemakers Club.Â
Mrs. Drennan was preceded in death by her parents, John Ben and Eva May Hughes; her husband, Hollis Drennan; a sister, Edith Lee; and three brothers, James, Fred and Robert (Bob) Hughes.
Billie J. Cooper Honea, 82 of Dayton, Texas, formerly of Prescott, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.
Mrs. Honea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Fred W. Honea Sr.; a son, Donnie Garrett; a grandson, Joshua P. Honea; and seven brothers and sisters.
Billie was born July 4, 1929, in Prescott to Thomas A. and Zula L. Nolen Cooper. She is a former resident of Baytown, Texas, and resided in Dayton, Texas, area for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith.
Sylvia G. McCray, age 95, of Benton passed away Monday evening, March 12, 2012.Â
She was born July 16, 1916, to Russell A. and Laura Rich Garlington in Bryant.
Mrs. McCray was preceded in death by her husband, Ben M. McCray; her parents; her brother, M. F. â€śTomâ€ť Garlington; her sister, Era Lynch; and a nephew, Michael J. Garlington.
Emily Gatlin Lisenbey, 90, of Benton passed away on Sunday, March 11. She was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Traskwood.
Emily was a retired L.P.N. for the state of Arkansas and a member of First Assembly of God in Benton
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Minnie Davis Gatlin; her husband, Eddie Lisenbey;,brothers, Delmar, Houston, George and John Gatlin; and a grandson.
Wallace Ted Vogler Wade of Tucson, Ariz., and Traskwood, died March 10 at his home. He was 67.
Born Feb. 19, 1945, in Memphis, Tenn., Ted was the son of Lewis Arthur Wade Jr. and Dorothy Lorraine Casto.Â
He was the grandson of Lewis Arthur Wade Sr. and Alvina â€śVernieâ€ť Ulmer of Shelby County, Tenn., and Ralph Bob Casto and Ethel Blassingame of Pulaski County.
