BENTON – Benton Lady Panther tennis players Any Jivan and Lauren Dudley were at Benton Arena to acknowledge their step to the next level on Wednesday afternoon at Benton Arena. Jivan received a full academic scholarship to Hendrix College in Conway and will play tennis there, and Dudley signed a letter of intent to play tennis at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.
BRYANT – Bryant Lady Hornets senior Brianna White signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with the University of Arkansas Fort Smith Lady Lions on Wednesday afternoon in the Bryant gym. White joins a Lady Lions team that went 27-8 last year and made it to the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.
“I think she’s really going to help their program,” Bryant Head Coach Beth Solomon said. “We’re going to hate losing her. She’s been our middle leader for three years now. It’s going to be hard for us to lose her, but we wish her the best.
A town hall meeting led by Benton Police Chief Kirk Lane and Fire Chief Bill Ford was held Thursday night to present residents a software program titled "Smart911" and to obtain feedback about the system that Lane has been researching to improve the effectiveness of the current 911 response system in Benton.
