Last summer The Saline Courier introduced readers to a 2-year-old boy named Easton Begoon who had been diagnosed on July 25, 2011, with T-cell leukemia.
The community responded in droves to help the family with everything from financial aid â€” and the medical bills still continue to mount today â€” to prayers and emotional support. In fact, Alan Gibson of the Red Cross told the Courier how overwhelmed his staff was to see Saline County residents donate 150 pints of blood at three different events in three days.
Cheryl Annette Callahan, 56, of Bryant, passed away May 30.Â She was born August 8, 1955 in Pasadena, Texas to the late Granville (Buddy) and Bobbie Benedict Callahan.Â CherylÂ was of the Baptist faith, worked as a Dental Assistant and enjoyed coordinating the Tuesday night dances at the Benton Senior Adult Center.
She is survived by her son, Jason Domerese of Bryant, brother, Wayne Callahan and wife, Diane of Rogers, sister Linda Verwiebe and husband, Andy of Clarksville, grandson, Dane Domerese of Bryant.
Rogie Dale "Ducky" Garrett, 51, of Paron, passed away May 30.Â He was born July 11, 1960 in Benton to Rogie and Pat Garrett.Â Rogie loved to hunt and fish and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Garrett.
He is survived by his sons, Clint Garrett and wife, Kelli of Benton, Chad Garrett of Paron, parents, Rogie Garrett of Paron and Pat Garrett of Benton, sister, Leassie Isom of Paron, grandchildren, Cami, Cantrell and Cole Garrett.
