The Independence Day celebration will come a few days early in Haskell and will include a large fireworks display to end the evening festivities.
The free event â€” including parking and admission â€” is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday at the Arkansas Health Center, located at 6701 U.S. Highway 67. From Interstate 30, take the Exit 114, drive past the Big Red Valero gas station and head straight past the first traffic light until reaching the sign for the Arkansas Health Center on the left.
HASKELL â€“ For Saline County, a student athlete signing to play their respective sport at the college level is nothing new. With Benton and Bryant growing at steady paces, both are right at the top of the rankings in many different sports each year.
BENTON â€“ Graduating from Benton High School in 2001, Jeau Kung now works on the other side of the world. Kung is a Muay Thai fighter and trainer at the historic Fairtex Muay Thai Fitness Camps and he is currently training at the camp in Pattaya, Thailand. Kung was in Benton recently and spoke with the Courier about his life in another country.
â€śItâ€™s really fun going over there fighting and training,â€ť Kung said. â€śJust being at the Fairtex camp, and on top of that, youâ€™re going to the mecca of standup.â€ť
