Margaret Elaine Covert, 79, of Benton passed away Wednesday, July 18 at Ridgewood Nursing Home.Â She was born on October 13, 1932 in Houston, Texas to the late Willis and Mary Maguire Alston.Â Mrs. Covert retired after working twenty-one years for J. C. Penney in their Credit Dept., and was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church, and loved to travel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tommy and Pat Alston and two sisters, Mary McElroy and Lillian Miles.
E. Leslie Dixon, 92, of Benton passed away Tuesday, July 17 at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.Â He was born July 4, 1920, in Mulberry, Kan., to the late George and Alma Dooley Dixon.
Mr. Dixon obtained a master's degree and was a school teacher and coach in Kansas. He finished his career in the engineering division for the Kansas State Highway Department.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Randall Dewayne Smith Jr., infant son of Randy and Laura Porter Smith, passed away July 17.
He was preceded in death by his great -grandfather, Winston Smith.
Herald L. Radican, 88, of Benton passed away July 16.Â He was born March 26, 1924, in Commerce, Texas, to the late Clyde and Lona Troboy Radican.Â Herald was a deacon at Holland Chapel Baptist Church in Benton, worked for Reynolds Metals and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He loved to make making walnut shell baskets and was well-known for this skill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wilma Radican.
