Former Hornet signs to be Lion

BRYANT – Former Bryant Hornet Josh Pultro signed to play baseball for NCAA Division II member University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Signed as a first baseman/outfielder, Bryant Coach Kirk Bock was confident the Lions will be happy with their choice.

“They’re going to get a good one,” Bock said. “He’s going to be able to hit at that level. He’s a very good outfielder. This year, he had to move to first base, picked it up real easy and did a tremendous job for us. They’re going to have a utility player there.”

William 'Bill' Welsh

William “Bill” Welsh, 74, of Traskwood died July 1. He was born July 17, 1937, in Washington, Pa., to the late Marvin Welsh and Nellie Mays Welsh. He had served in the U.S. Air Force and was owner of Bill’s Pool Service.
Bill enjoyed motorcycling, fishing and hunting. He was active in VFW Post 2256 Benton and was president of Maverick Mixers square dancers. Bill enjoyed working with the youth of the community including coaching baseball and serving as a Cub Scout leader.
Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Danie and Mark Welsh.

Tinlee Elise Dreher

Tinlee Elise Dreher, born on July 3, was with us so briefly, but her assignment was completed. What God has for us to learn through her brief stay will continue to unfold for the rest of our lives.  She left us with a heavenly escort and arrived in the presence of Jesus, where she now waits for our future arrival.

Merle Duane Zitterich

Merle Duane Zitterich, 83, of Haskell died Sunday, July 1. He was born December 25, 1928 in Humboldt, Iowa. Merle was retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving 21 years during the Korea and Vietnam Wars. He also retired from the Harper Construction Co. and was of the Lutheran Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Charlotte Zitterich; and wife, Lois Jean Zitterich.

Bill W. Ewing

Bill W. Ewing, 72, of Benton, passed away Saturday, June 30, at his home in the presence of his loving family. 
He was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Perryville to the late William Mason Ewing and Ina Louise Windle Ewing.
He was a parts manager for Ford Motor Co. for 51 years. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter.

Fay Eugene Doolin

Fay Eugene Doolin, 78, of Benton, passed away Sunday, July 1.
He was born in Selma on Dec. 9, 1933, to the late Cecil and Fern Doolin.
He was a member of Congo Road Baptist Church and was a retired construction and remodeling contractor.  He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard and loved to fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Lee Doolin; two daughters, Susan Doolin and Barbara Bunton; one great-grandson, Jaden Richardson; and one brother, Cecil Finis Doolin. 

John David 'Pete' King

John David “Pete” King, 62, of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, June 30.
He was born Jan. 27, 1950, in Little Rock.  Pete was a member of the Eagles and love to hunt and fish. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward Stanley and Betty Maxine King; and his wife, Virginia King.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Smith of Cabot; a son, Chad King of Jessieville; two brothers, Jackie Ward King and Bill Ellis, both of Alexander; two sisters, Dolores Bearden of Alexander, Betty “2T” King of Little Rock; and seven grandchildren.
