Renee Chastain, a former recorder/treasurer for the city of Bauxite, has announced her candidacy for Position 2 on the Bauxite City Council.
Chastain told The Saline Courier that she is seeking the post because she has a vested interest in Bauxite.
Chastain is challenging incumbent Paula Matthews for the council seat.
"I'd like to see Bauxite grow," she said. "People are on the move and I'd like for Bauxite to be on the coattails on that ride.

Ricky Loyd Richmond, 56, of Haskell passed away Saturday, Aug. 18.
He was born Feb. 19, 1956, in Benton. He was a Master Plumber for Northside Plumbing.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, John Floyd Richmond.
Jeffrey Thomas Reaves Jr., 64, of Benton passed away Saturday, Aug. 18. He was born Feb. 21, 1948, in Memphis, Tenn.
Jent Allan Monk, Comedian/Hypnotist J Medicine Hat, 51 of Benton, passed away on August 13, with his loving wife and family by his side. Jent was born on September 21, 1960 to Earl and Bonnie Monk in Sioux City, Iowa. Jent spent the last 28 years traveling the country on the Comedy trail, making us laugh until we cried. He touched many people in many ways over his travels, he never met a stranger and he didn’t have a pretentious bone in his body. Once you met him you couldn’t help but to like him. To all his fans “Hat Heads”, which he loved, thanks for all your support and Love of our favo
Edith Mae DuVall, 91, of Tull died Friday, August 17, at her home. She was born January 30, 1922 in Tull. Edith was a housewife and a member of Antioch Christian Church in Tull.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wylie and Dora Burton, and her husband, Richard Vernon DuVall.
She is survived by her son, Phillip DuVall, Tull; brother, Pal Burton, Sheridan; Two grandsons, Two Great-grandchildren.Â
Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Monday, August 27 at Ebenezer Cemetery in Tull. Minister will be Phillip Davis.

Harley Jefferson Caldwell, 92, of Little Rock, formerly of Bryant, passed away August 18. He was born in Rosston, February 8, 1920. After serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he and his wife moved to Little Rock and began working together at a small service station on Asher Avenue. He serviced cars and fixed flats while Velma washed windshields and pumped gas. They actually lived in a back room of the station.
Glenn Edward Brashier, 80, of Bryant passed away Tuesday, August 14 at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House. He was born April 7, 1932 in Parma, MO to the late Wesley and Dolly Bunn Brashier. He was a Baptist, U. S. Army Veteran, and retired as a chemical engineer having travelled all over the world for Stauffer International of Los Angeles, CA.Â
Mr. Brashier was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Donald Jackie Vice, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 10. Born October 19, 1932 in his grandmother’s bedroom in Saline County, the son of George and Jessie Vice. He was one of six siblings, Ruth, George, Georgia, Joy, and Carroll.
Shortly after graduating from Bauxite High School in 1951, he joined the Air Force. Don was stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, WA. Don met and married, Beatrice Larsen on August 2, 1953. Their family grew to include Margit, Donald Jr, Jon and Jessie.
Larry Warren Lovell, 66, passed away on Aug.16.Â
Larry was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Little Rock. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shopping, and traveling. He served our country in both the Army and Air Force. He was also administrator and CEO of rehabilitation companies.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Georgene Jackson Lovell.
