The Finance and Personnel Committee of the Bryant City Council was slated to discuss the revision of an ordinance regulating the open burning of yard waste during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, but an alderman quickly put an end to the dialogue, citing the fact that the ordinance was inappropriate to discuss at a Finance and Personnel Committee meeting.

A spokesperson said the district teamed up with the Benton Senior Activity Center and district volunteer Angela Howell to promote recycling while helping members of the community in need.
"So far the Benton Senior Activity Center has gathered 2,800 coupon booklets," said Sherry Parsons, director of the center.
 “The seniors are so proud to be a part of this program. They enjoy the ability to help others,” she said.
Mary Louise Hamlin, 86, of Malvern died Tuesday, Sept. 11, at her home. She was born in Hatfield on Oct. 23, 1925, to the late James T. Davis and Rosa Henson Davis.
Moving with her family to Malvern at an early age, she received her education locally and was active in school sports, playing softball and basketball. She also loved to water ski. A working mother, Mary was employed by the local textile mill, the shoe plant, and by Chamberlain Door, from which she retired in 1991. She was a member of Third Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and worked with the youth.
Dennis W. Sullivan, 70, of Lonsdale, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12.
He was born April 10, 1942, in St. Louis to the late William D. and Margaret L. Sullivan. He was a retired member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 of St. Louis.
He is survived by one sister, Dian Cowser and husband Jim of Lonsdale; two nieces, Katie and husband Steven and Terri and husband Chad; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Marion Estelle Billingsley Meador, 94, of Bauxite passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11. She was born July 7, 1918, in Prescott. Marion was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William O. and Georgia Arnott Billingsley; her husband, Roland Meador; a son, Roger Meador; two brothers, Hugh Billingsley and Elbert Billingsley; a sister, Jessie Monk; and a great-great-grandson, Randal Smith Jr.
Thomas Suddith McCool, 67, of Benton passed away on Sept. 11, at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.
Thomas was born Nov. 12, 1944, in Grapevine. He was passionate about life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, Civil War reenactments, playing music of all kinds on the piano, banjo and his favorite instrument, the mountain dulcimer. His favorite song to play was "Sweet Hour of Prayer."
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and liked watching old television series like "The Cisco Kid."
June Huddleston Hicks, 80, of Mabelvale passed away on Sept. 10, with her family by her side.
She was born Nov. 27, 1931, to the late George and Nell Huddleston in Houston, Texas.
June loved being a mother and grandmother; she was not only a grandmother to her own but everyone who knew her considered her their grandmother also. She was a very loving and giving person.
June was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Lewis Hicks Jr.
Audra Mae (Sally) Fite, 92, of Benton passed away Sept. 9. She was born Dec. 27, 1919, to the late Carl O. Fite, Sr. and Lavada Ford Fite.
Audra worked as a nursing assistant at Saline Memorial Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl O. Fite Jr
She is survived by her niece, Sherrie McAdow and husband James; great-nieces, Vanessa Scott and Allison Martin; and nephew, Collin McAdow, all of Benton.

Mark A. Bragg, 45, of Mabelvale passed away Saturday, Sept. 8. He was born Jan. 4, 1967, in Little Rock.Â
Mark was a manager of four different Phillip 66 locations.Â
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Richard Bragg; and grandparents, Beatrice Padgett and Louie and Hazel Bragg.
Billy “Sonny” Draper, 71, of Bauxite, passed away Sunday, September 9. He was born January 19, 1941 in Lono to the late W. W. (Bill) and Evelyn (Shelby) Draper of Bauxite. He worked for Dassault Falcon Jet in Little Rock for almost 25 years, having completed a long career in the aircraft industry that spanned 40 years starting in the Air Force as a Vietnam Veteran through various supplemental airlines that took the family to Abilene Texas, Ardmore Okla, Harrisburg PA, Fairborn OH and Memphis TN before moving back to Bauxite to be near family and friends.
