The Christmas holiday season is often referred to as the season of giving. As 58-year-old Derrell Hill is confined to a bed at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, family and friends pray there are enough giving people to help fund a liver transplant for the Saline County native.
"During this difficult time, he spends as much time as possible with his six children, 10 grandchildren and other family and friends who all means so much to him," a family member said.
Thanks to a phone call from concerned residents, a suspected criminal was apprehended Tuesday, authorities said.
"A big part of helping catching criminals lies with people willing to share information with us," said Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department. "If you observe something suspicious and are not sure whether you should dial 911 to report it, we strongly encourage you to do so. We would rather investigate something that turned out to be nothing than run the risk of missing criminals in the act, as was the case here."
