Esther Louise Verga

Esther Louise Verga, 94, of Benton died Tuesday, Jan. 22.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Olga Pilgrim; a brother, William H. Pilgrim; and her husband, John J. Verga.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Stoetzner and husband Robert of Utica, N.Y., and Joanne Messley and husband Charles of Benton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in St. Charles, Mo. Local arrangements are by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.

Christi Lynn Allen of Benton went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 26, 2013. She was born May 11, 1962 in Kennett, Mo.
Christi was passionate about caring for the elderly. She recently cared for elderly clients whom many she adopted and cared for as her own family. She was a loving person and that love spread into the many hearts and lives she touched.

Charles E. Reeves Sr.

Charles E. Reeves Sr., 65, of Malvern passed away Monday, Jan. 28, at Hot Spring County Medical Center.  He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Malvern, the son of Clarence and Gladys Robertson Reeves. 
Charles was a member and deacon at Cooper Assembly of God and co-teacher of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Razorback fan. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ralph Reeves.

Westside Pharmacy burglarized

Employees of Westside Pharmacy found their business had been burglarized early Wednesday.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said officers found that the suspects used forcible entry to gain access to the pharmacy. Details on how the burglars broke into the building was not released as of press time, but Russell said "details will be forthcoming on this incident."

Two Benton men were arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing from a home while in the view of officers.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said at 12:15 a.m. officers drove to the 1400 block of Arkansas 35 South to check out a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. What officers found was a truck backed up to a shop and two men loading items into the bed of the truck, Russell said.

Ramona Lois Davenport

Ramona Lois Davenport, 60, of Conway passed away Jan. 29.  She was born Aug. 31, 1952, in Conway to the late Emmett and Florence Avis Mobley Moore. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Benton.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Kay Moore.

Jerry W. Johnson

Jerry W. Johnson, 78, of Benton passed away Monday, Jan. 28.  He was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Cherry Valley to the late Ralph and Annie Elizabeth Barkley Johnson.
Jerry’s favorite pastimes were fishing, being with his family and the love of his life; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brenda Blackburn; and grandchildren, Matt Johnson and Robbie Blackburn.

Loys V. Halbert, Jr.

Loys V. Halbert Jr., 81, of Benton went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 28.
Loys was a barber for many years, and he always had a laugh and a joke for his customers, but at heart Loys was an artist. He looked at the world around him and found art everywhere, whether it was in a fresh snowfall or a crappie chasing a lure.

Ronni L. (Gonzales) Williams

Ronni L. (Gonzales) Williams, 42, formerly of Sherwood, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 23 in the arms of Jesus, healed of all her pain. She worked for USA Drug and Prudential Insurance Co.
She was predeceased by her father, Ronald Gonzales; and a sister, Leia Renee Valencia.

Gaylene McRaven, 65, passed away Jan. 25. Gaylene was born May 12, 1947, in Fort Smith.
Gaylene was retired from Thomas Real Estate and Insurance Co.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Merle McRaven; and her father. Charles Bailey.
