LITTLE ROCK - There has never been a sports team that strives off having its teeth kicked in by opponents. For the Harmony Grove Cardinals, they are not a fan of it either. But on Friday, the first game back from Christmas break, the Cardinals welcomed Jessieville into Haskell, but walked away battered and bruised after getting mauled by the Lions.
PINE BLUFF- The Bryant Lady Hornets lost a heartbreaker 40-39 to the Pine Bluff Lady Zebras on Tuesday night at McFadden Field House.
â€śI thought we really played really well in the second half,â€ť Bryant Coach Brad Matthews said. â€ś[We] made a run at them and got the lead. They made a play with a second to go to beat us. Weâ€™ll keep working to get better.â€ť
BENTON â€“ The Benton Lady Panthers started their 7A/6A South conference game against JA Fair on a 16-0 run on their way to a 62-14 victory over the Lady War Eagles on Tuesday night at Benton Arena.
â€śWe got through the game with no injuries,â€ť Benton Coach Jerry Chumley said. â€śWe executed everything pretty good and shot the ball OK. Weâ€™re healthy heading to Sheridan Friday night.â€ť
Marcelee Cooper, 85, of Jacksonville, formerly of Bauxite, passed away on Jan. 7. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Jacksonville and the Faith Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Cooper was a retired Southern Baptist ministerâ€™s wife and a homemaker. She spent more then 40 years serving alongside her husband and in many capacities of ministry in several churches around Arkansas, including Almyra Baptist Church and Wilson First Baptist Church, where she taught women in Sunday School, led the Womenâ€™s Missionary Union, and sang in the church choir.
