The unemployment rate in Saline County was 5.8 percent at the end of 2012, down from 6.1 percent the previous year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The county is faring better than the state overall, with Arkansas' unemployment rate sitting at 7.1 percent in December 2012.
âI think it's attributed to the quality workforce in Saline County,â said Gary James, director of the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce. âWe have a heritage of strong, dedicated workers.â
BRYANT- The Bryant Hornets used a late fourth-quarter run in a 52-35 victory over the Texarkana Razorbacks on Tuesday night. The Bryant Hornets improve to 17-9 (6-6) on the year. The Hornets have won 6 of their past 8 games after starting the 7A/6A South 0-4.
âWe hit a few shots early,â Bryant coach Mike Abrahamson said. âWe made some plays.â
