Guy Walter Bass went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 5.Â He was born March 5, 1938 in West Monroe, La., and spent his early years in Bauxite and Benton.Â
He could fix anything, especially computers, and worked 20 years for IBM, 18 years for Amdahl Corp., and five years for Storage Tek. Guy was proud to hold a degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister in 1979.Â He was a faithful servant of God who served as a pastor, bivocational pastor and Sunday School teacher, and was a member of The Gideons International organization.
Harold Wayne Beaty, 74, a lifetime resident of Benton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5.Â
He was an elder at First Christian Church of Benton, a Navy veteran and a retired pipefitter from Alcoa.
Harold was a charter member of the Benton chapter of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) Club.
He graduated from Benton High School in 1956 and won numerous awards for playing football and running track. He earned the nickname â€śBullâ€ť from his high school teammates because of his size and speed.
