LITTLE ROCK â€” A federal judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by a company that makes medical marijuana dispensing machines against a conservative Arkansas group after both sides reached a settlement.
U.S. District Judge James Moody on Wednesday dismissed the lawsuit that Medicine Dispensing Systems Inc. filed against the Family Council Action Committee and its president, citing the settlement.
An Indiana-Jones-themed party will wrap up the summer reading program at Herzfeld Library in Benton today.

Although rain is predicted for this weekend, it won't likely cool temperatures down much, according to the National Weather Service.
In fact, Saline is one of 45 counties the NWS is warning will experience uncomfortable high temperatures from now at least until Tuesday.
High temperatures combined with a humid air mass will push the heat index up to about 100 degrees each afternoon, according to the NWS.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms also are expected through the period.
Pamla Annette Sullivan Beaty of Benton was born in Little Rock, on July 16, 1955, to a loving family, and died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, of health complications. She was 58 years old.
Pam was a longtime employee of Arkansas Waffle House and a lover of the outdoors. Her favorite hobbies were working in the yard and playing with her grandbabies.
She enjoyed being with people, adults and children. She always had time to offer a friendly ear. She had a heart of kindness and a soul of gold. She will be lovingly remembered by each and every life she touched.
Kernie M. Bowers, 86, of Benton died July 15, 2013, while visiting her daughter and son-in-law in Illinois.
She was born March 25, 1927, in Poyen. Kernie was a beautician for more than 50 years and was a faithful Jehovahâ€™s Witness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert H. and Martha Byrd Wilbanks; her husband of 43 years, James L. Bowers; two sisters, Stella Sorrells and Helen Taylor; a brother Dois Wilbanks and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Wilbanks.
Xuryvan Turbyfill, 90, of Benton passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
He was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Reform to Tom and Nancy Turbyfill.Â Xuryvan was a member of Salem Church of Christ and enjoyed woodworking, having worked for Jones Lumber Co. for more than 40 years.Â
He was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife of 61 years, Billie Jean Claris Wallis Turbyfill; a son, Calvin Turbyfill; two brothers, Cledus and Tommy Turbyfill; and his parents, Tom and Nancy Turbyfill.
Karen Sims, 64, passed away July 13, 2013.
Karen was born Dec. 9, 1948 in Cool Ridge, W. Va.
Karen loved her grandkids. Highlights of her time with the grandchildren included baking together, reading to Chase and attending baseball games where she was always cheering for Austin. Karen loved the Lord and spending time reading her Bible.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents. George and Gladys Anderson; and one brother, Timmy Anderson.
Homer Lee Bradshaw, 86 of Benton, died Monday, July 15, 2013.
Homer was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Center, Texas. to the late Adam and Callie (Renfrow) Bradshaw.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters/
Mr. Bradshaw was a member of Highway Church of Christ in Benton. He was retired from Alcoa. He was most well-known for his fresh produce stand, and he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
Gina Denise Watkins, 47, of Bauxite passed away July 15, 2013.Â She was born Sept. 15, 1965, to Jimmy D. and Dorothy Lewis Henry.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Weldon Craig Smart.Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â .
She is survived by her husband, Roy Watkins; her daughters, Alexis Smart and Haley Rider; a granddaughter, Aadison Robertson; a brother, Darrell Henry; and two sisters, Diana Patterson and Stacy Henry.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Ashby Funeral Home.
Visitation is set from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the funeral home.
