Annie named top dog in pet calendar contest

Annie, a golden retriever owned by Jim and Betty Gwatney, took top honors in the 2014 Saline Courier NIE Pet Calendar Contest.
Annie garnered 5,128 votes, finishing 329 votes ahead of runner-up Raine, owned by Rick Ricketts. They are two of the 12 pets to be featured in the 2014 Newspapers In Education Pet Calendar, which will be available for purchase by Thanksgiving. More than 36,000 votes were cast during the contest period, which ended Aug. 2.

Congratulations to all who entered the 2014 NIE Pet Calendar Contest. With help from the entrants and those who voted in the contest this summer, we were able to raise more than $9,100 to support the Saline Courier’s Newspapers In Education program.
