A heat advisory issued earlier this week by the National Weather Service is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.
According to the NWS, the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity levels will create heat index values of at least 105 degrees today and Thursday.
These high heat index values will be reached by early afternoon and will continue for several hours each day, according to the NWS.
The NWS recommends people who live in areas under a heat advisory drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
A South West Water users board meeting is set for Thursday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m. at 620 Airlane Drive in Benton.
