Entergy currently reports outages in the Bryant area north and east of Reynolds Road. No indication of when power will be restored.
The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Saline County until 5:15 p.m. today.
UPDATE: The weather warning has now been cancelled.
Members of Benton city government, local leaders and representatives from a group that will build a new hotel in Benton, turn shovels of dirt at a ceremonial groundbreaking event on Thursday. A Fairfield Inn & Suites will be constructed adjacent to the new Benton Event Center in Hickory Square Shopping Center. Actual construction of the hotel is expected to begin within 7 to 10 days and be completed in 2014.
SHERWOOD â€“ Bryant sophomore Drew Castleberry shot a 1-over 37 for the overall boysâ€™ medalist, but the Hornets barely fell to North Little Rock at The Greens at North Hills in Sherwood on Monday. North Little Rock shot a 173 to Bryantâ€™s 170.
â€śThe pin placement had to be the hardest ones they had available,â€ť Bryant Coach Keith Dale said of North Hills. â€śThe greens were cut short, rolled and sanded that morning making a put stick next to impossible. The kids had a very hard time.â€ť
Kali Hardig's miraculous recovery is being celebrated locally with a parade involving two schools in the Benton district.
The procession is scheduled to begin at 10:35 a.m. on Smithers Drive at Howard Perrin Elementary School, where Kali previously was a student. The parade then will proceed to Benton Middle School, where Kali was scheduled to begin the fall term in August.
Kali defied medical odds and was discharged Wednesday from Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
