Floye B. Warford

April 19, 2013

Floye B. Warford, 83, of Benton passed away Monday, April 15, 2013. She was born May 6, 1929, in Glen Rose. Floye was a homemaker, a teacher, and a member of the Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George E. Otts and Stella Keisler Otts; her husband, Roy Warford; two sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Troy Warford and Terry Warford, both of Benton; a daughter, Roma Pedneau and husband Mike of Richmond, Ky.; a sister, Ophelia Edwards of Sulivan, Mo.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

David L. Fairchild

David L. Fairchild, 71, of Benton passed away Monday, April 15, at UAMS Medical Center. Dave was born July 27, 1941, in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Dave was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was employed at McKimmey Real Estate in North Little Rock for many years, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Fairchild of Iowa.

Rebecca 'Becky' C. Kirkpatrick

Rebecca "Becky" C. Kirkpatrick, 65, of Glen Rose passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at UAMS. She was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Malvern, the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Pauline Tackett Clements.
Becky was a retired supervisor for the Arkansas Department of Human Services. She loved antiques, Depression glass and yard sales. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

Painting with a Purpose to benefit Habitat for Humanity

Painting with a Twist in North Little Rock will host Painting with a Purpose on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. During this time, proceeds from the painting classes will be given to the Humane Society of Saline County.
Classes cost $35 dollars. Those interested may register at www.paintingwithatwist.com or by calling 501-352-1366.
The event will kick off Habitat for Humanity’s art auction season.
Painting with a Twist is located at 4178 East McCain Blvd. in North Little Rock.

1 of 2 Mass. bomb suspects dead; suburbs shut down

WATERTOWN, Mass. — One of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing is dead after the killing of a university officer and a shootout with police, and a massive manhunt is under way for the other, authorities said early Friday.
Police locked down some neighborhoods in Boston and its western suburbs as they searched for the remaining suspect, known as the man in the white hat from marathon surveillance footage.

The National Weather Service has lifted a Tornado Watch for Saline County. Rain is expected to continue in the area through 7 p.m.

Legislative breakfast set for Friday

The final legislative breakfast of the session is scheduled for tomorrow at 7 a.m. in the Saline Memorial Hospital cafeteria.
The community will be given a chance to weigh in as legislators recap the last two weeks at the Capitol.
Breakfast will be available to be purchased.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Saline County in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon.

Thunderstorms predicted for today

The National Weather Service is calling for showers and thunderstorms today. The NWS is reporting that some storms could be severe.
The first thunderstorm is predicted to start around noon, with a strong storm moving in at about 3 p.m.

Tonight showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 10pm, according to NWS. The temperature is supposed to drop, with a low around 38 predicted for tonight.
