Saline County patrol unit never really missing

September 19, 2013

The Saline County patrol that was reported to be missing since May has been located.
It turns out, the vehicle was actually assigned to a detective, and was believed to be missing because the VIN was copied down incorrectly.
This is the reason it was not located in the initial review of the vehicle roster when the vehicle was suspected to be missing, Lt. Scott Courtney said.
The error was discovered during a detailed inventory of vehicles in the sheriff's office in preparation of the leadership transition.
