James Russell Spivey, 55, of Southhaven, Ms., passed away Jan. 29.Â He was born February 4, 1957 to Mackey and Ester Spivey.Â James was retired from the United States Air Force, serving twice in Desert Storm.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mackey Spivey.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Maggie) Spivey of Southhaven, Ms., sons, Bryson Spivey of Benton, Richard Guice of Woodlands, Texas, daughters, Nikki Spivey of Benton and Stephaine Turley of Conway, brother, Mike Spivey of Benton, mother, Ester Louise Spivey of Benton and his beloved dog, Shasta.
Joseph Luther Wells Jr., 91, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, at his home in Benton.Â
He was born Aug. 6, 1921 to Luther and Lessie Wells of Sheridan.
He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a 50-year Mason and a World War II veteran.Â
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Wells; two brothers; and two sisters.
The inaugural â€śWalk, Run and Rollâ€ť 5K to benefit special children at Friendship Community Careâ€™s MiChild Preschool is scheduled Saturday, March 9.
Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in the event and the â€śMiChild Mileâ€ť taking place at Hurricane Lake Estates in Benton.
Benton police have arrested four people in connection to Wednesday's West Side burglary and recovered more than $1.3 million in pharmaceutical medication on nine different properties throughout Benton, Malvern, Hot Springs and Bismarck.
Lt. Kevin Russell said the arrests were made in conjunction with with seven law enforcement agencies and the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
Esther Louise Verga, 94, of Benton died Tuesday, Jan. 22.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Olga Pilgrim; a brother, William H. Pilgrim; and her husband, John J. Verga.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Stoetzner and husband Robert of Utica, N.Y., and Joanne Messley and husband Charles of Benton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in St. Charles, Mo. Local arrangements are by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.Â
Christi Lynn Allen of Benton went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 26, 2013. She was born May 11, 1962 in Kennett, Mo.
Christi was passionate about caring for the elderly. She recently cared for elderly clients whom many she adopted and cared for as her own family. She was a loving person and that love spread into the many hearts and lives she touched.
Charles E. Reeves Sr., 65, of Malvern passed away Monday, Jan. 28, at Hot Spring County Medical Center.Â He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Malvern, the son of Clarence and Gladys Robertson Reeves.Â
Charles was a member and deacon at Cooper Assembly of God and co-teacher of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class.Â He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Razorback fan. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.Â
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ralph Reeves.
Employees of Westside Pharmacy found their business had been burglarized early Wednesday.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said officers found that the suspects used forcible entry to gain access to the pharmacy. Details on how the burglars broke into the building was not released as of press time, but Russell said "details will be forthcoming on this incident."
Two Benton men were arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing from a home while in the view of officers.
Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department, said at 12:15 a.m. officers drove to the 1400 block of Arkansas 35 South to check out a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area. What officers found was a truck backed up to a shop and two men loading items into the bed of the truck, Russell said.
Ramona Lois Davenport, 60, of Conway passed away Jan. 29.Â She was born Aug. 31, 1952, in Conway to the late Emmett and Florence Avis Mobley Moore. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Benton.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda Kay Moore.
