Jean Mobley Millsap, 69, of Hensley, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013. She was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Vaden, to the late Jesse and Nancy (Hammons) Mobley.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Millsap; children, Barbara Jo (Mike) Russell, David, Mike, and Teresa.

Melba Caple Beaty, age 89, of Benton passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.
She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Sardis.
Melba was a housewife and a member of Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elliott and Martha Jean Caple; her husband, Bennie Beaty; her sisters, Frances McDorman and Jean Baxley; and a grandson, Matthew Beaty.

Charles David Lewallen

Charles David Lewallen, age 56, of Haskell passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1957, in Malvern.
Charles was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Winona Raper Lewallen; and a nephew Jeremy Lewallen.
Survivors include three daughters, April Nabholz, Amber Shapter and Autumn Buckner; hia father, Charles Clifford Lewallen; two brothers, Clifton and Timmy Lewallen; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ashby Funeral Home.

Jesse Lee Haislip, age 83, of Benton passed away on Aug. 15, 2013. He was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Cardwell, Mo.
Jesse was a retired plumber and pipefitter for Reynolds Metals Co. and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Mary Jane Williams Haislip; two brothers, Sam and Harvey; and two sisters, Ruby Lovins and Virgie Cox.

Sharlotte Gjestvang Sawyer

Sharlotte Gjestvang Sawyer, 70, of Lono passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013.  She was born Nov. 10, 1942, in Little Rock, the daughter of George and Anna Lee Crowley Gjestvang.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and embroidery. Sharlotte was a member of South Main Missionary Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen "O.J." James Sawyer Jr.; and a sister, Marie Heitman.

Dusky M. Land

August 19, 2013

Dusky M. Land, 66, of Benton, went home to his heavenly father this past Wednesday, after a long progressive illness, following a stroke and cancer. He was saved, had made peace with the Lord, and was eager to be united once more with his wife, Mary Pate Land; his parents, W.O. and Lenore, and his beloved brother, Drayton.

Sgt. Roger Dale Bullard Sr.

Sgt. Roger Dale Bullard Sr., 64 , of Benton, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013.
He was born Jan. 21, 1949, in Benton.
Roger was a Vietnam War Army veteran and retired from the Saline County Sheriffs Office as a sergeant.  He was a member of the F.O.P. and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Roger was the co-founder of the Saline County Deputy Sheriffs Association and helped build the Saline County Sheriffs Training Facility. 
He was preceded in death by his father, J.T. Bullard; his mother, Thelma Lee Ables; and a brother, Lonnie E. Ables Jr.

Frances (Frankie) Eloise Wilkins

Frances "Frankie" Eloise Wilkins, 86, of Traskwood passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013.
She was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Willow to the late William and Lennie Fitzhugh Fleming.
Frances was a retired cosmetologist, wife and homemaker. She loved to garden, hunt and fish.
Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sparkman, where she taught Sunday School for many years.  She loved serving her Lord.

Lula Mae Dunbar

Lula Mae Dunbar, 80, passed away on Aug. 7, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born April 30, 1933, to the late Lucien Bluford and Anner Lambert. She received the Administrative Degree of the Eastern Star in Detroit, Mich., in 1996. She also was ordained by Bishop Carry of St. Peter’s Rock Church in Detroit, Mich., in 1977.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman Bluford and Fred C. Lambert Sr.; and two sisters, Glady Carter and Dorethea McAfee.

Elizabeth Maxine Hines Ragan

Elizabeth Maxine Hines Ragan, 88, of Benton passed away Aug. 14, 2013, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. She was born Oct. 22, 1924, at the Mountain View Community in Saline County.
Maxine worked for Dr. John D. Wright and was a retired RN and an X-ray tech at the Alexander Human Development Center and a member of Crossroad Missionary Baptist Church. Maxine loved to camp, fish and was an avid quilter. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of Pine Court at the Arkansas Health Center.
