Clifford Oâ€™Neal Jones, 29, of Benton passed away July 30, 2013.Â He was born May 22, 1984 in Little Rock to Neal Jones and Elizabeth Hawkins Jones Stephens.
Cliff was a free spirit, enjoying outdoor sports, fishing and hunting, and the thrill of selling cars.
Clifford was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Hawkins; his grandmother, Lavern Jones; and his beloved dog, Debo.
Carra Jo Toler, 85, of Bryant passed away July 31. She was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Marianna, to the late Horace Bonner and Vivian Wild.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bryant. Carra Jo retired from the Internal Revenue Service, after serving as a homemaker for a number of years. She enjoyed spending time with her family on Lake Ouachita and rocking babies in the church nursery.
She delighted in all activities which involved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends. In fact, she affectionately became known to all who knew her as GG, for Great-Grandma.
A house fire on the corner of Timbermist and Mallard Streets in Benton has spread into the roof structure. Benton firefighters have responded. Details will be provided as we learn more.
The Herzfeld Library in Benton will present The History of the Crater of Diamonds State Park on Monday, Aug. 12.
The program will begin at 6:30 p.m., and Park Ranger Waymon Cox will be speaking. The presentation is open to the public.

Baseball's Hall of Fame Induction was last weekend and it was the first time since 1997 that the Baseball Writer's Association of America didn't vote a player in. The HOF Veteran's Committee voted umpire Hank O'Day, baseball pioneer Jacob Ruppert and pre-1900's catcher Deacon White. Congratulations to those guys which got in I've never heard of, but this column isn't about them. I'm looking toward next year when there will be three first-ballot HOFers in Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas.
Post 263 American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will meet Thursday,Â Aug. 8, at Traskwood City Hall.Â
The Auxiliary will meet at 5 p.m., followed by the Sons of the American Legion at 6.Â The American Legion meets at 7.

LITTLE ROCK â€” U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor on Friday accused expected Republican rival Tom Cotton of alienating farmers, students and many others since joining Congress in January, and said he hopes Arkansas voters don't waste one of the state's two Senate seats by backing the freshman lawmaker.
BENTON â€“ It will be an interim reunion of sorts when Benton Panther Assistant Coach Dwaine Fishburn and Freshman Panther Head Coach David Torres begin the basketball season. After six seasons as Bentonâ€™s head basketball coach, Chris Nail took the assistant principal position. Fishburn was named interim head basketball coach and Torres was named the interim assistant coach at the Benton School Board Meeting on Tuesday night. The duo also were interim coaches for the Panthers for the 2006-2007 seasons before Nailâ€™s arrival.
The final day to vote in The Saline Courier 2014 Pet Calendar Contest is today.
Votes are 25 cents each and can be entered at The Saline Courier office, 321 Market St. in Benton.
The top 12 pets will be featured in the calendar, which will be sold later this year.
Winners will be announced Thursday, Aug. 8 in the paper.
All proceeds benefit the Newspapers in Education program.
Wilma Bunch, 82, of Traskwood passed away July 31, 2013.Â She was born March 25, 1931, in Little Rock to the late David and Montana Burton Styers.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Bunch and Kenneth Bunch; a daughter, Patricia Vocque; a brother, Elmer Styers; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery by Ashby Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the funeral home.
