FROM THE BENTON POLICE DEPARTMENT:
The Benton Police Department would like to warn citizens about the potential dangers of a scam that has been reported. Two reports were recently taken where suspects attempted to scam a subject out of personal information involving an alleged contest.
PEARCY – Needing a must-win against the Lake Hamilton Lady Wolves, the Bryant Hornets came just short in losing 1-0 in 7A/6A South conference play on Tuesday in Pearcy. As the only 7A team in the South, the Lady Hornets are behind the 8-ball when it comes to qualifying for the state playoffs out of the 7A West.
PEARCY – Senior starting pitcher Nate Rutherford pitched a complete-game shutout and junior shortstop Trevor Ezell went 3 for 4 in the Bryant Hornets 6-0 victory over the Lake Hamilton Wolves in 7A/6A South conference action on Tuesday.
Rutherford needed just 61 pitches in seven innings for the win. He struck out four and gave up six hits without a walk.
PEARCY – The Benton Panthers defeated the Lake Hamilton Wolves 6-1 in 7A/6A South conference action on Monday in Pearcy in a game which was originally scheduled for this past Friday at Panther Field.
With the win, Benton clinched the No. 1 seed in the 6A State Tournament from the 6A South conference.
Due to inclement weather in the two teams’ first scheduled game of the year at Lake Hamilton, the game was moved to Panther Field because of better field conditions and the Panthers and Wolves just swapped venues this past game.

There is a lot of excitement for Coach Bret Bielema's Razorback football team and that was demonstrated last Saturday with over 51,000 fans attending the Red-White football game in Fayetteville. Â I saw that same enthusiasm in Benton on March 27, 2013, when Coach Bielema spoke at the Saline County Razorback Club Fish Fry in front of 600 die-hard fans.Â
