Crews have just arrived on scene of a busted water main on W. Sevier at Maryland. We have called in an emergency locate where other underground utilities can mark their lines, so we won't hit them. The crew is gathering the necessary supplies and equipment to make the repair at this time. As soon as the other utilities in the area are marked, they will reduce the pressure in the area to make the repair, so some customers will notice little to no pressure until the repair is made.
WASHINGTON â€” Senate leaders announced last-minute agreement Wednesday to avert a threatened Treasury default and reopen the government after a partial, 16-day shutdown. Congress raced to pass the measure by day's end.
The Dow Jones industrial average soared on the news that the threat of default was fading, flirting with a 200-point gain in morning trading.
"This is a time for reconciliation," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of the agreement he had forged with the GOP leader, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) â€” Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe said Wednesday he'll call lawmakers back to the Capitol this week to approve a plan to increase funding to the state's teacher insurance program to lower premium hikes that are set to take effect next year.
Beebe told reporters that he planned to call for the session to begin Thursday afternoon, with lawmakers expected to work through Saturday on the plan to address the rate hikes. Beebe's office said the governor planned to issue a formal proclamation calling the session later Wednesday.
