Free prostate cancer screening available at local organization

The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Ralph Bunche Neighborhood Association have scheduled a free prostate cancer education and screening event at the Ralph Bunche Community Center, located at 1600 Dixie St. in Benton.

The event is set from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

A spokesperson for the program said men between the ages of 45 and 70 are encouraged to take advantage of the free preventative-health care services, which will include a discussion on risk and benefits of screening, a blood test for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and a physical exam.

Struble not cited for harassment

Bauxite Alderman Mona Struble was not cited for harassment although a complaint against her was filed recently by Brian Baber.

The report was filed Sept. 4 with the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

Baber made the allegations against his brother, John Baber, and Struble, who was John Baber's then-girlfriend. Struble said the couple has since married.

Lt. Scott Courtney wrote in the original report that Brian Baber alleged that John Baber and Struble have been harassing him since early January.

•An employee at Floors and More reported a vehicle break-in.
•Crystal Guin, 40, of Malvern was arrested at Home Depot and charged with theft of property.
•A man on River Oaks Drive reported several items were stolen from his vehicle.
•A woman on North Summit Road reported mail was stolen from her residence.
•A woman on Oak Hill Lane reported her purse was stolen from her vehicle.
•Vicky Barthel, 58, of Hot Springs Village was arrested at Kroger and charged with shoplifting.
