Mother, daughter to appear in court Monday

An Alexander mother and daughter who were charged in connection with a child’s death are scheduled to appear in Saline County Circuit Court Monday morning before Judge Gary Arnold.
During this appearance Rosie Crone and Rose Hobby will enter a plea or receive a trial date.

I-30 bridge maintenance sees lane closures in Saline County

LITTLE ROCK — Bridge maintenance will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Saline County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.

Crews will be working on the bridge over Interstate 30 at mile marker 106, between Benton and Malvern. The work will require closing the eastbound and westbound inside lanes between mile markers 104 and 108.

The westbound inside lane closure will be Monday, Dec. 8, between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Arkansas panel OKs pre-abortion ultrasound

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A divided Arkansas medical panel has voted to require doctors to perform an ultrasound test on a patient before carrying out an abortion.

The Arkansas State Medical Board voted 7-6 Thursday to implement parts of a state law, which also requires doctors to tell a woman the likelihood of a fetus surviving if carried to term.

The Arkansas Human Heartbeat Protection Act initially banned most abortions 12 weeks into a woman's pregnancy.
