Arkansas AG urged to not appeal gay-marriage case

December 10, 2014

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas' attorney general is being urged to not appeal a federal judge's decision striking down bans against gay marriage in the state.

A spokesman for Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says no decision has been made.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1wyiKcU ) that a petition urging McDaniel to not appeal was delivered Wednesday by plaintiffs in a state case challenging the gay marriage ban.

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker last month struck down the prohibitions on same-sex marriage but put the ruling on hold pending a state appeal.
