Jesmond 'Jess' A. DiMaio Jr.

Jesmond “Jess” A. DiMaio Jr., 70, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. Jess was born March 20, 1943, to Jesmond and Mary DiMaio in Youngstown, Ohio.
Jess and his father started A&D Screw Machine Products of Malvern in 1960. Jess graduated from Benton High School in 1961. His family moved to Malvern in 1962. In 1963, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Gail Ensey. They were married just over 49 years.

Evelyn Dollie Cheshier

Evelyn Dollie Cheshier, 97, of Heber Springs passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. She was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Benton, the daughter of the late Edward Young Green and Hattie (Ogle) Green.
Mrs. Cheshier was a homemaker and mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest P. Cheshier, who passed away on March 3, 2000.

James “Jim” Thomas Smith

James “Jim” Thomas Smith, 81, formerly of Benton, died May 23, in Kaufman, Tex.
Mr. Smith was born in Benton on Sept. 25, 1931 to James Manson and Zelma Smith. He married Ruth Whitted on Sept. 25, 1949. Mr. Smith worked for Walters Drilling Co. in Benton for many years before transferring to the company’s Dallas office in 1967. He later worked for Southwestern Laboratories in Arlington as a driller and drilling supervisor until his retirement in 1987.

Louis Deward Snapp

Louis Deward Snapp, 84, of Bryant, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013.  He was born January 31, 1929 in McCoy, Texas to the late James and Frances Snapp.  Mr. Snapp was a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran and retired owner of United Parts and Supply Company.  He was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church, V.F.W., Alumina Lodge #574 of Bryant and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Levita Coppock Clement Bigler

Levita Coppock Clement Bigler, 59, of Anchorage, Alaska passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013.  She was born December 19, 1953 to Gyle W. Coppock and Alita Hamilton Coppock Cockman.  Mrs. Bigler had a long career with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) as a computer drafter.  She retired December 13, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gyle W. Coppock; her stepfather, Edward E. Cockman, and her brothers, Darrell Coppock and Ronnie Cockman.

John C. Oates

John C. Oates, 78, of Benton passed away Friday, May 24 at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born September 17, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas. John was a retired dental lab tech, a US Air Force Veteran, and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cue E. Oates and Isca A. Jones Oates.

Benton police no longer searching for missing man

Benton police announced on Wednesday it is no longer searching for the missing person whom the department last week solicited help from the public to find.
It was previously reported that Richard Gilliam, 61, had not been seen or heard from for several days.
He is now back with his family, said Lt. Kevin Russell, public information officer for the Benton Police Department. There is no reason to suspect foul play, according to the department.
