BENTON – The Benton Lady Panthers have been on a tear over the past six or seven weeks.
They have already added some hardware to the trophy case by winning the Bootsie Gordon Tournament in early March and now they are trying to keep a healthy winning streak alive as they get into the meat of a tough schedule.
Benton, coming into Monday, had won 10 straight games with it’s only loss coming to arch rival Bryant on opening day.
VAN BUREN – The Bryant Lady Hornets’ softball team had a rollercoaster of a weekend in west Arkansas. After routing Van Buren 17-0 in 7A Central conference action on Thursday, the Lady Hornets then played six games in two days in the Van Buren Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Bryant won all six games to carry on its undefeated season to improve to 18-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. All invitational games were limited to 70 minutes because of the number of games and time constraints.
“We had a good tournament,” Bryant Coach Debbie Clark said. “Winning is always good.
BRYANT – After senior Dylan Cross pitched the Bryant Hornets to a 9-1 win over the Van Buren Pointers in 7A Central conference action in Van Buren on Friday, the Hornets continued their routing ways with an 11-1 victory over the Texarkana Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon in Bryant.
In the win against the Pointers, Cross gave up one run in a seven-inning, complete-game, giving up five hits and a walk while striking out seven.
