Royce Glen Chambless

Royce Glen Chambless, 75, of Bauxite died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. He was born in Zion on March 7, 1939, to Alfred and Beulah (Hill) Chambless. He attended school in Sidney, and then moved to Little Rock.
Royce never met a stranger and made it his mission in life to make sure the conversation always flowed. He had a generous heart and was a true friend to all who met him.
Royce was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred Corley Chambless and Kenneth Chambless; and a son, Richard Chambless.

Iris bulb sale generates $2,300 for area projects

A member of Salem United Methodist Church reported that an unusual fundraiser held Saturday proved to be extremely successful for the church.

Richard Bondurant said the sale of iris bulbs brought in $2,300 for community projects the church members will conduct.

Suit filed to remove minimum wage initiative from '14 ballot

A lawsuit has been filed to remove the minimum wage initiative from the November general election ballot.

The suit asks the Arkansas Supreme Court to block the "Act to Increase the Arkansas Minimum Wage" from placement on the Nov. 4 ballot.

The issue, if approved, would incrementally raise the state's minimum wage from $6.25 to $8.50 an hour by the year 2017.
