Margie J. Phillips, 78, of Benton passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014. She was born on Thursday, July 18, 1935 in Belfast, Arkansas to the late Coy and Euna (Brewer) Mooney.
She was the glue that held the family together. She was always putting smiles on the faces of everyone that she knew and loved. She enjoyed having her family and enjoyed all the times with them. She is no longer in pain and suffering, which is a comfort to the family she loved. At her home, it was always the more the merrier with everyone welcomed.

John Greene

John Greene, 46, passed away July 9, 2014. He was born in Little Rock on May 13, 1968.
John always had a smile on his face. He was always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. John’s family was very important to him and he was crazy about his nephew. He enjoyed fishing and working on his cars. John attended First Baptist Church in Benton, AR.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Newcomb and Mr. and Mrs. G.M. Greene.

Saline Courier wins General Excellence, 27 awards at Arkansas Press Association Super Convention

The Saline Courier took home 27 awards, including the General Excellence award, at the Arkansas Press Association's annual Super Convention on Saturday, July 12. Earlier in the year The Saline Courier also won the General Excellence Award, the Sweepstakes Award and 36 other awards at the Associated Press Media Editor's banquet.
