Ethel G. Brinkley, 96, of Bryant died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.  She was born June 2, 1918, in Harrisburg to the late John Truman and Ethel (Hill) Bradley.
Ethel was a licensed practical nurse who retired from Saline Memorial Hospital in 1976 and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Benton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard L. Brinkley; two brothers; and two sisters.

Connecticut man accused of 'mopping aggressively'

BRISTOL, Conn. — A Connecticut man is facing charges after police said he grabbed a mop out of a hotel employee's hands and was "mopping aggressively" over the worker's shoes.

Police say 30-year-old John Thornton, of Southington, was arrested Monday night and charged with breach of peace and threatening.

Arkansas high court strikes down voter ID law

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas' highest court on Wednesday struck down a state law that requires voters to show photo identification before casting a ballot, ruling the requirement unconstitutional just days before early voting begins.

In a decision that could have major implications in the Nov. 4 election, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling that determined the law unconstitutionally added a requirement for voting.
