FAYETTEVILLE — It was the shot heard around the state. Down one with two on, two out, a full count and freshman Breanna Langford at the plate, Benton’s 6A title hopes looked to be all but demolished Friday at Bogle Park in Fayetteville. That was until Sheridan pitcher Sydney Bonner left a hanger out over the plate that Langford tomahawked into left field for a 3-run, go-ahead blast to put the Lady Panthers in front for good.

Veloria C. "Vee" Moore

Veloria C. "Vee" Moore, 84, of Benton passed away May 26, 2014 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock.  She was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church and Bryant Senior Activity Center.
Vee is survived by her husband, Dan Moore, children Sandy Haney (Johnny), Ray Martin (Becky), and Andrea McBryde (Michael); three step children, 2 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no memorial service. Cremation services by Cremations of Arkansas.

Benton Police bust two men for child porn

Benton police officers recently arrested two men on child pornography and other related charges for two separate incidents.

In both cases, the men communicated with an investigator posing as a juvenile and shared explicit pictures and information about themselves, said Lt. Kevin Russell, Benton Police Department spokesperson.
Jonathan Ivy, 22, of Arkadelphia was arrested on March 28.

In a separate incident, Richard Washam, 24, of Pine Bluff initiated a meeting with the officer posing as a juvenile and was arrested on May 26 at the arranged meeting spot, Russell said.
