Marguerite (Margie) Helen Etien, 91, of Benton passed away Wednesday, May 23.Â She was born Feb. 26, 1921, in St. Clair, Pa.Â Mrs. Etien retired after 25 years of being an R.N. at St. Vincent Infirmary, was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and Our Lady of Fatima Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marguerite Agnes Dodds; her husband, Robert Adrian Etien Sr.; and two sisters, Joan Liddle and Mildred Lambert.
Morris Douglas Tillery, 80, of Benton passed away Wednesday, May 23.Â He was born April 30, 1932 in Beaudry to the late Joseph David (Joe) Tillery and Myrtle Winnie Howard Tillery.Â He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired building contractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dock Tillery and Cecil Tillery.
Alvin M. â€śPeteâ€ť Wilson, 87, of Benton died Wednesday, May 23. He was born March 18, 1925, in Higginson. He was retired from Alcoa and a member of North Forth Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kattie Minyard Wilson; parents, Johnny B. and Cora Wilson; and a brother, J.B. â€śJuniorâ€ť Wilson.
Brantley Robert Davis of Bryant, infant son of Jason Davis and Emily (Wilson) Davis, went to be with His Jesus, Tuesday, May 22.Â He was born Feb. 11, 2012 in Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Sean Wesley Davis; and his great-great grandmother, Ruth Brantley Howard, who was his namesake.
Thomas E. Williams Sr., 75, of East End went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23. Tom was born on July 10, 1936, in Little Rock to T. A. and Elouise Williams. He was retired from Alcoa of Benton and a consultant of Employers Mutual. He was a member of East End Baptist Church, a 32nd-degree Mason, Iron Springs Lodge 342, and a former member of the Scimitar Shriner. He will be remembered well by family and friends that received gifts from his hobbies of wood carving and cooking. He was very generous and caring of others' needs.
Lennis E. Watts, 94, of Benton passed away Tuesday, May 22.Â She was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Benton.Â
Mrs. Watts was a homemaker and the oldest member of Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nancy Elizabeth Wise; her husband, John Allen Watts; and a daughter, Doris Keesee.
It was arguably one of the most heated campaigns in Saline County in many years, but incumbent Bruce Pennington won a decided victory Tuesday in the Republican Party's preferential primary election.
Pennington is now the party's nominee and will face Democratic challenger Rodney Goshien Sr. in the Nov. 6 general election.
On Tuesay, Pennington, 61, soundly defeated James Ward by receiving 64.81 percentage of the total votes to 35.19 percent for Ward. Of the 10,287 ballots cast, 6,667 votes were for Pennington and 3,620 for Ward.
Lois Kelley, 65, of Benton passed away on May 21, with her family by her side. She was born on January 13,1947 to the late, Lee and Mary Dyce in Ulun. Lois enjoyed collecting angels, painting, crocheting, wood working and doing crafts. She always had a smile on her face and would light up the room when she entered. Her most precious times were spent with her children and grand children.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Katherine and seven brothers, Cecil, Gene, Walter, Bennett, L. E., John and J. R.
Robin Elizabeth Schwartz Lobbs, 37, of Benton, passed away May 22.Â She was born July 2, 1974 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Greg and Elizabeth Cross Schwartz.Â Robin attended UALR and Henderson State College.Â She was a member of Bryant United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jefferson Lobbs of Benton; parents, Greg and Elizabeth Schwartz of Benton; brother, Christian Schwartz and wife, Alexis of Benton; nephew, Owen Schwartz of Benton and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Georgia Florene Jones Merrell, 95, of Benton died Monday May 21. She was born February 15, 1917 in Nashville. Georgia was a retired Cosmetologist and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Jones, and her husband Alger Merrell.
She is survived by two sisters, Nan Mize and Gloria Johnson, both of Benton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation services are by Ashby Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
