Charles P. Adams Sr., 94, of Hot Springs passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at his home.Â He was born June 18, 1919, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Charles P. and Josephine Hettinger Adams.
At the age of 7 he was placed in St. Josephâ€™s Orphanage in Louisville until the age of 15 when he went to work to support his mother.Â He entered the military, serving during World War II. His service included time in Africa and Italy.
Arkansas compromise Medicaid expansion stays alive

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) â€” Arkansas' first-in-the-nation plan that uses Medicaid funds to buy private insurance for the poor survived an effort to defund it Tuesday, as lawmakers gave final approval to continue a program that has extended health coverage to nearly 94,000 people.
Florence Brenda â€śNanaâ€ť Turner, 75, of Benton passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014.Â
She was born May 10, 1938, in Stockton-On-Tees, England.Â Mrs. Turner was a retired nurse.Â
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lance and Frances Scott; and her husband, Ronnie Turner.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Carey and husband Billy; a grandson, Shaun Carey; a sister, Hazel McGlade; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
