Alderman Brad Moore is dropping out of the race for another term on the 10-member Benton City Council.
Moore said he and his family will be moving out of the area, according to a statement he released Tuesday afternoon.
In the statement, he noted that he has accepted an offer of a career promotion and the job will require his family to move to Northwest Arkansas.

Jeanette Hensley Allen, 77, of Malvern passed away Oct. 6, 2014.
Jeanette was born May 10, 1937, in Benton, to Porter and Alene "Cotton" Hensley.
She was a good cook who loved big dinners. She enjoyed going fishing and camping and one of her favorite memories was a trip to Yellowstone National Park.
Jeanette also loved watching the birds and deer. She was very devoted to her family and friends and everyone who met her loved her.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Richard E. Allen, 57, previously of Springdale, passed away Oct. 6, 2014.Â He was born Feb.19, 1957, in St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada, to the late Darel and Pauline Grummons Allen.
He is survived by his best friend, Carrie Allen; his stepdaughters, Melody Butler of Lincoln, Ark., and Rida Knotts-Reed of Missouri; one stepbrother; an aunt, Sadie Thistle of St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada; and five grandchildren.
Cremation was through Ashby Funeral Home of Benton.

Jamiya Nicole Watson was born at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Medical City Dallas Hospital in Dallas, Texas, weighing 13 ounces. She was 10 inches long.
Jamiya Nicole crossed into The Light at 3:38 p.m. on Oct. 3, 2014.
She is survived by her mother, Javielle Watson; her grandparents, Gerald and Cathy Brangman of Benton; her Uncle Tieren, Uncle Classic and Uncle Zerahzhe of Benton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.
