Orthodontist challenges Arkansas law on services

LITTLE ROCK — A Jonesboro orthodontist has filed a federal court challenge to an Arkansas law that bars dental specialists from offering stand-alone basic services such as cleanings and X-rays.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Little Rock argues that it is unconstitutional to prohibit orthodontists — dentists who specialize in straightening teeth — from performing nonemergency stand-alone services outside of their specialty.

Dozens of ballots tossed because of voter ID law

LITTLE ROCK — Two dozen ballots weren't counted in Arkansas' most populous county after voters who didn't show identification at the polls in last week's primary failed to return by a Tuesday deadline to present ID under a new state law, election officials said.
