EL DORADO — Construction is set to begin next month on Murphy Oil Corp.'s new headquarters in El Dorado.
Several former law offices and an abandoned house will be demolished to make room for the 860,000-square-foot headquarters. A company spokeswoman says construction is expected to be complete in September 2015.
The El Dorado News-Times reports the facility will include a two-story building with a lobby and general meeting rooms. That building will be connected to a five-story structure that will hold the company's offices.
Expanding the UALR Benton Center reached a milestone as fundraising continues to build a new facility in Downtown Benton.
An announcement from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock notes that the Benton campus will begin a major facelift to the existing building and grounds this summer when its advisory board closes on a three-year capital campaign goal of $450,000.
“Fundraising is progressing right on schedule,” said John Young, the new Advisory Board chair.
Raising a family is difficult under the best of circumstances, but for Gina and Greg Grant, the difficulty is one they embrace.
Greg and Gina met in the spring of 2002 and dated two years before deciding to get married.
"We were kind of rushed into getting married because in mid-September we found out Greg had kidney cancer and needed to have surgery immediately," Gina said. "So we married a few short days after finding out this news."
Greg fully recovered from the disease and has had no recurring problems.
