Mary Faye Landers, 84, of Benton passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.Â She was born July 28, 1929 in Benton to the late O.C. and Bertha Gattin Willis.
Mrs. Landers was a schoolteacher, having taught for 22 years in the Benton School District at Ringgold Elementary. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert Landers; one sister, Sis and husband Billy Ray, and their son, Ted Cullum.
Arlo N. Beck of Sheridan passed away at Baptist Health Medical Center on Feb. 2, 2014. He was born in Sheridan to Pearl Heath Beck and Homer Jeff Beck on Nov. 8, 1944
He was a heavy equipment operator at Alcao for 35 years and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam war. He was an endless fountain of practical knowledge, and could always be counted on to build a fence, lay a line or repair a car, and pulled many motorists (including his wife) out of icy ditches between Sheridan and Benton.
Katie Ann Hughes, 82, of Benton passed away on Feb. 4, 2014. She was born Aug. 31, 1931, in Star City to the late Palmer A. McFalls and Maude Eleanor Buck McFalls.
Katie was a charter member of Parkview United Methodist Church. She was named United Methodist Women's Woman of the Year and Parkview UMC Mother of the Year in 2008.
Katie was a member of the Arkansas State Womenâ€™s Bowling Association and served as a WIBC board member. She was honored as Arkansas Senior Women State Bowling Champion.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Robert C. Hughes, Sr.
