BAUXITE - On Friday, two girls’ basketball teams with equally dismal records in 7-4A action met up for a game. Both teams recently suffered similar fates against Malvern. Arkansas Baptist used the first few minutes of this game to secure a lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the night. It would be the Lady Eagles of Arkansas Baptist leaving with a hard-fought prize, winning by a score of 56 - 43.
BENTON – After winning their first two 7A/6A South Conference games by an average of 44.5 points, thanks to a 74-9 rout of Fair on Tuesday, the Benton Lady Panthers didn’t let up on Friday night in another rout, this one a 51-23 victory over the Sheridan Lady Jackets at Benton Arena.
BRYANT – It wasn’t exactly the way Bryant Hornets’ Coach Mike Abrahamson drew up the play, but C.J. Rainey found a way to achieve the desired result.
Rainey took a pass on the right side of the floor, curled into the lane and hit a layup with 6.6 seconds to go to tie the game at 43. His free throw after drawing contact gave the Hornets a 44-43 win over the Little Rock Fair Eagles on Friday. The Hornets defeated Pine Bluff 42-41 on Tuesday for their first 7A/6A South win.
