•A man on Beverly Street reported the theft of a lawnmower.
•Joey Lutz was arrested for an outstanding Bryant warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia.

•A man in Bauxite reported the theft of a debit card.
•A woman in Benton reported her former husband threw nails in her driveway while she was away from home.
•A woman reported a break-in at her home in the Mabelvale area.
•A woman in Bauxite reported a physical altercation involving herself and her daughter.

Suspect allegedly raped, drugged juvenile; charge is man's second since November

The Benton Police Department has arrested a man for a second time in connection with allegedly drugging and raping a juvenile.

The male juvenile victim in the case provided information about a suspect, identified as James Gilliam, 32.
Lt. Kevin Russell, Benton Police Department spokesperson, said Gilliam contacted the victim online.

Smiley walks on at UALR

BENTON – Former Benton Panthers pitcher Zack Smiley will be staying close to home when he continues his education past the high school level. On Tuesday, Smiley signed his intent to walk on with the University of Arkansas Little Rock Trojans at Benton Arena.

“I figured it was the best opportunity to play,” Smiley started. “It’s a good school to get my education and it’s a great program for my future.”

Smiley’s father, Dan, said Zack is following his dream.
