Bryant Police Department asks for help to find suspect

The Bryant Police Department is asking for residents' help in locating a woman who allegedly used a stolen credit card at the Walmart in Bryant.

Brandy Leeann Griffin, who may also go by Brandy L. Selvidge, 26, allegedly used a stolen credit card to make large purchases at Walmart and Lowe's on May 24.

The card was stolen from a vehicle in Bryant and has also been used in Cabot and Little Rock, according to Sgt. Todd Crowson, Bryant Police Department spokesperson.

Pursuit ends in arrest, multiple charges filed

Saline County deputies arrested a man Tuesday after he was involved in a vehicle pursuit with officers.

Deputies responded to a disturbance on Krestview Drive in Mabelvale.

One of the victims told deputies that Cory Devante Lawson, 22, of Mabelvale pointed a pistol at him and threatened him, said Lt. Scott Courtney, Saline County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

While deputies were at the scene, Lawson returned but sped off after observing the officers at the scene.
Lawson drove into Pulaski County and then back into Saline County before his engine stopped, Courtney said.

Haynes falls as Wright rallies in runoff

In a close race, Rodney Wright became the Republican Party's nominee for Saline County sheriff by defeating Simon Haynes in Tuesday's primary election runoff.

Wright won the nomination by only 197 votes.

Wright drew 4,997 votes, or 51.01 percent of the total, and Haynes drew 4,800 votes, representing 48.99 percent.

"I feel great because I know that at the end of the day, I've worked hard and I have run a clean and positive campaign," Wright said.

He expressed appreciation to his supporters.
